On Friday 3 December 1999, Kevin departed Rapid City, South Dakota, for Windhoek, Namibia. For three weeks, Kevin was the honored guest of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'i Faith of Namibia, and also spent a few days in South Africa at the Parliament of World Religions. Namibia is a large country located in the southwest coast of Africa, sharing borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east, and South Africa to the south.
